God is saying…..

Come out of the wilderness child….

When the children of Israel were in the wilderness after they left Eqypt the Lord first showed them that He would take care of them.

He had turned Eqypt’s water to blood to make it undrinkable. In contrast, He had turned this bitter water  in a place called Marah (because) it was “bitter” into drinkable water. The Lord showed Moses a tree that could be used to cure the water. To make the water drinkable. This tree that Moses throws into the water reminds me of the “TREE OF LIFE.” This tree of life sits by the river of living flowing ( continual, it doesn’t stop) water! “We” represent the bitter water of Marah.

Bitter-

→ Mereerah, denoting “that which is bitter;” hence the term is applied to the “bile” or “gall” (the fluid secreted by the liver), from its intense bitterness, (Job 16:13; 20:25) it is also used of the “poisonof serpents, (Job 20:14) which the ancients erroneously believed was their gall. → Rosh, generally translated “gall” in the English Bible, is in (Hosea 10:4) rendered “hemlock:” in (32:33) and Job 20:16 rosh denotes the “poison” or “venom” of serpents. From (29:18) and Lame 3:19 compared with Hose 10:4 It is evident that the Hebrew term denotes some bitter and perhaps poisonous plant. Other writers have supposed, and with some reason, from (32:32) that some berry-bearing plant must be intended. Gesenius understands poppies; in which case the gall mingled with the wine offered to our Lord at his crucifixion, and refused by him, would be an anaesthetic, and tend to diminish the sense of suffering. Dr. Richardson, “Ten Lectures on Alcohol,” p. 23, thinks these drinks were given to the crucified to diminish the suffering through their intoxicating effects.

When I see the words “poison” and serpent. I look back at the very beginning in Genesis. The serpent that tempted Eve into taking from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. The Bible says that this serpent was the “most cunning”(wise and skillful). So, the devil is not only a liar but he is both wise and skillful at how he tells us these lies! So, he knows what point to attack you. What to use and where to use it to keep you from growing in God and sometimes he can bring us to such a place that we feel like we can’t pull out of it and that is the place called the “wilderness”.

From the very beginning, satan’s plan was to seperate us from God. From the very beginning this serpent. This author of all lies put POISION in our flesh and mind.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44

Going back to Marah the children of Israel “grumbled” (To murmur or mutter with discontent; to make ill-natured complaints in a low voice and a surly manner.) “What are we to drink?” That question in itself is showing that the Israelite’s did not have faith in God and what He could do.

Did not God just part the red sea for them? Did not God deliver them out of Egypt? Can not God provide?

I did not know this until a few days ago but, I want to share something with you that I found amazing!

The number 40 represents “testing” The similar testing and grumbling the Israelites went through in the wilderness. When Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 night he went through a period of testing from the devil.

The number 40 is the product of  5 and 8, and points to the action of grace (5), leading to and ending in revival and renewal (8). This is certainly the case where Forty relates to a period of evident probation. But where it relates to enlarged dominion, or to renewed or extended rule, then it does so in virtue of its factors 4 and 10, and in harmony with their signification.

The difference between the Israelites and Jesus is that Israelites listened to their “flesh” what their “self” wanted and Jesus depended on the knowledge of the Word. One of my favorite come back’s to the devil that He gave was

It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4

So why were the Israelites grumbling about “water” about “bread”?

Our bread is the Word of God it gives direction in all aspects of our life. I stand amazed every day at how God works and how my every need is provided for!

When the disiples told Jesus to eat in John 4: 31-32

But he said unto them,” I have food to eat that you know not of”

They knew not because the gospel was standing before them to be fulfilled. Jesus had to be crucified so the “the comforter-living water-holy spirit” would come! The Holy Spirit spoke to these disciples and gave them the Words of Our God and the end result was the Bible. OUR DAILY BREAD!

As I type the words crucified the Spirit speaks to me “Why did Christ have to be crucified?” I have never really read in depth about this so I want to show you the answer that I have found.

Crucifixion: was in use among the Egyptians, (Genesis 40:19 ) the Carthaginians, the Persians, ( Esther 7:10 ) the Assyrians, Scythains, Indians, Germans, and from the earliest times among the Greeks and Romans. Whether this mode of execution was known to the ancient Jews is a matter of dispute. Probably the Jews borrowed it from the Romans. It was unanimously considered the most horrible form of death. Among the Romans the degradation was also a part of the infliction, and the punishment if applied to freemen was only used in the case of the vilest criminals.

Since this was considered (in the time of Christ) the most horrible form of death, I believe that God chose that because The Wrath of God upon the unjust is “horrible“.  It says “the vilest criminals“. All sin is vile and an abomination. Jesus died for the “VILEST CRIMINALS” for “all”  that may believe and repent!

Some of you may be saying “that you have done too much. You don’t know what I have done! I am a sorry person. I want to feel loved but I can’t find it.I feel all alone. God doesn’t hear me.”  I’m telling you right now, Jesus died for the VILEST of criminals! His Grace abounds to all that will  believe on Him and accept Him into their heart!

If you are sincere and honest in asking the Lord to forgive you. He makes the changes that are neccessary in you. YOU just have to lean on HIM! I want to show you something else.

At some point later on in the wilderness the Israelites were grumbling once again about having no water (Exodus 17:2). Moses answers them saying. “Why are you testing the Lord?” But the people thirsted there for “water” . and grumbled against Moses. They said, “Why did you ever bring us out of Egypt to kill us and our children and livestock with thirst?” (Exodus 17:3)

God had just provided them with water! He had just shown them a “miracle” by turning  the bitter water into “sweet” “good” water!

Stillthe people questioned Him. It is the same as when we say that we will depend on Him for something and then we decide to  pick it back up. WE question Him and what He can do when we do that. We say “I trust you with this.” and then we say “On second thought…..”

When we give ourselves to God. When we decide to believe that Jesus died for us on the cross and rose again in 3 days with the keys to death in His hand. He is Our Saviour. He is the Victory!

When we pray the prayer of salvation and allow Him to be there with us in our life.

That means that we are suppose to allow Him to do what is best for us. To let Him examine us and bring us to the place that He purposed us.

Yet, when the time comes to rely  on Him and let Him make a few adjustments here and there. We suddenly say “Whoa Lord, I don’t know about that!

Is He there you ask?

Yes, He is there. Right where you left Him when you decided you didn’t like the changes that were required!

When you took your eyes off Him that is exactly where He is.

Where you left Him!

He is saying,

It is time to stop questioning me. It is time to come out of the wilderness child….I’ve given you miracles, I have shown you who I AM. Don’t be lost in the wilderness forever…LOOK UP I am there…. I am here and I want you to know I haven’t forgotten you. You are not alone. I have not forgotten you…Step out of the wilderness child it is time to cross over Jordan.”

I want you to know that we all face things in life. It rains on the unjust and the just but, I think in times of trials we forget to open our eyes and  “past our selves” to remember that bit of scripture. (Matthew 5:45)

I think sometimes we would rather place the blaim on someone else instead of looking in the mirror.

The only reason we are in bondage is not because of anyone else but ourselves.

We choose to rely on self..

And choose to ask God “Why do you lead me out of Egypt (out of my comfort zone) to thirst and die?” God never said it would be comfortable. He never said we wouldn’t have trials and tribulations.

In Fact, He said GET READY, because persecution’s coming. The devil will attack but, the bible says to cast down every lofty thought that rises up against the Word of God. So, why don’t you try that? Instead of believing the devils lies, why don’t you tell the devil

“For it is written….”

Jesus is the rock that we stand on that allows the living water to flow in our lives.

Just as God told Moses to stand on this stone and I will make water flow from it so that the my people may drink! HE provides  that living water that can come from no where else. That “understanding” can come from no where else. He is the only one that can take away the clouds of confusion that surround you. He is the only one that can lift the pain from your heart. Stop looking else where to find that living water…. Look to Jesus…….Come out of the Wilderness. God has not forgotten you.
